I never imagined that my journey into the business world would completely change the way I think and move now. As I reflected on my 54th birthday last month, I realized that my career goals have been totally redefined to include not only myself and my family, but also to make an impact on the world around me in whatever way I can. I can look back and remember the unfortunate circumstances that led me to seek a legitimate hustle to provide for my family and how challenging it was to try and build a profitable business from scratch. It felt like swimming across a vast lake in total darkness – cold, lonely, and unpredictable. But those failures have purpose now; every mistake I make which helps others avoid similar pitfalls becomes a success story.
The power of reflection has played an invaluable role in my journey – it helps me recognize what worked, what didn’t work, what could be improved upon, and how things can be done differently next time around. That's why I created “F.A.I.L” as an acronym for “For All I've Learned”. Every failure is an opportunity for growth – there are lessons to be learned in every experience!
My approach to business is based on empathy – understanding where people are coming from before offering solutions or suggestions helps create trust and leads to better conversations between myself and potential customers or partners. Working with other small businesses provides unique access to resources that may otherwise be unavailable due to lack of capital or manpower – something that is especially useful when starting out with limited resources or knowledge about certain industries or markets. Collaboration is key!
Having mentors who have walked this path already has been invaluable – their advice has helped shape my strategies for success in ways that I never thought possible before embarking on this journey. Without their guidance, it wouldn't have been nearly as easy for me to stay focused on reaching my goals despite the obstacles that come up along the way (and there are plenty). Surrounding myself with successful people who can provide insight into different aspects of business has made all the difference when trying to navigate this unfamiliar territory!
Building a successful business requires hard work, dedication, focus, resilience – but most importantly, recognizing failure as part of learning process instead of something negative or shameful allows us all grow in ways we couldn't even imagine beforehand! Navigating the Black Hole of Entrepreneurship
When I started my journey into the business world, I had no idea what to expect. I was scared and uncertain of how things would turn out, especially with the various mental challenges that I faced on a daily basis. It felt like jumping into a black hole, where I couldn’t see what was in front of me and wasn’t sure if I’d make it out alive. It is often said that the mind is the strongest muscle in the human body. This is because the mind controls everything we do, say and think. Our minds are incredibly powerful and, as a result, can either help or hinder us in achieving our goals. If we let our minds get in the way of our dreams, they will become nothing more than pipe dreams. Our minds are constantly operating on the information they currently have. If our minds have not been exposed to our goals, they have no information on which to base anything and will default to fear and failure. We must be committed to our dreams and connect with our purpose if we want to achieve them. Only then will our minds be able to see them as achievable and worth striving for. Let's not let our minds kill our dreams and goals – let's use them to fuel them instead. Neither your past failures nor someone else's opinion of you determine your future success – only you can do that!
Our minds are the gatekeepers of our thoughts, emotions, and memories. The Power of Decision
“ We can try to avoid making choices by doing nothing, but even that is a decision ”
There is power in a truly committed decision. When I first started my business 33 years ago I was so wishy washy. Everyday I wasn’t sure if I was doing the right thing, the right business, the right marketing methods.
It was pure frustration.
It wasn’t until I made a clear decision to build with what skills I had that I started to see results. I was attracting more people into my business and sending out a very clear message. “I am going to the top, are you coming with me?”.
Prospects and friends saw it oozing from me.
The word decide is from the Latin word de cider, which means to cut from this means we cut off any other possibility when we make a true decision.
Once you have decided and committed, tell someone. Speak it out loud to yourself and share it with someone whom you trust won’t be negative. Don’t tell everyone because you will certainly hear negative comments that you don’t want to replay over in your mind when your dreams are at their most fragile.
Internal dialogue is the most destructive enemy for anyone. When you start to hear yourself saying “I can’t so this”, “This isn’t working fast enough”. or “I will never succeed”. Stop and be grateful.
Make a list of 5 things you’re grateful for and learn to say “ I am getting better ”. Celebrate your accomplishments no matter how small.
Many successful people became loners when those in their primary circle began to attach negative connotations to words like “Hustle” and “Savage” because they couldn’t let the ideas of others steer them away from the purpose and time they are here for. There is a culture and Community for that type.
Success comes from your mindset. You absolutely MUST believe in yourself. When you’re going to do anything major in life, there will ALWAYS be people who are against you. They’re normally referred to as, Haters lol! Don’t let haters cause you to devalue yourself. Be confident in who you are and your abilities. On the flip side, don’t become prideful. There’s a huge difference.
Pride will cause you to look down upon others and esteem yourself as being better than others. Always treat everyone with respect and remain humble. That will take you farther than your talent. A good name/reputation is better than riches. Think optimistically about your success and where you’re headed as an artist/producer. If you want to be successful in the music industry, then you have to believe you will be without a shadow of a doubt. Besides, if you’re not confident in who you are and what you have to offer, why would anyone else support your music?
Always believe in yourself. The harder the journey, the greater the destination. Embrace the friction that you get from others and use that as fuel to keep going.
